Describe your journey to the Faculty of Pharmacy
My journey to the Faculty of Pharmacy was quite unconventional. I initially pursued a preparatory class in France, which gave me a strong scientific foundation. However, I realized that I wanted a more applied and patient-oriented field. I then explored different study paths abroad before finding my true passion in pharmacy.
The Czech Republic, and particularly this faculty, stood out due to its high academic standards and international environment. The balance between theoretical knowledge and practical experience convinced me that this was the right place to pursue my studies.
I also wanted to travel, and the central location of the country in Europe makes it perfect for that. Moreover, Brno is a very student-friendly city, with a vibrant atmosphere and a large international student community.
What do you like about your studies?
I appreciate the structured curriculum that combines theoretical depth with hands-on experience. The laboratory sessions, in particular, allow me to apply what I learn in lectures. The faculty’s emphasis on research and innovation is also inspiring. Additionally, the international atmosphere and the opportunity to interact with students from diverse backgrounds make the experience even more enriching.
What difficulties have you encountered before or after moving to Brno?
One of the main challenges was adapting to the language barrier, especially for administrative tasks and daily life interactions. Additionally, adjusting to a new educational system and different teaching methods required some effort. However, with time, I developed strategies to overcome these challenges, such as engaging with local students, improving my Czech language skills, and, of course, learning a few phrases around a pivo. Fortunately, we also have Czech classes, which help a lot in navigating daily life.
What advice would you give to new students?
Be open-minded and proactive. Adjusting to a new country and academic system takes time, but seeking help from professors, classmates, and student organizations can make the transition smoother. Organize your studies well from the start, as the curriculum is demanding. Also, don’t hesitate to explore the city—Brno has a lot to offer, and integrating into the local culture can make your experience even more fulfilling !
